The field experiment was conducted at Agriculture College, Latur during the kharif season (2006) to find out suitable genotype of soybean in intercropping with pigeonpea and suitable planting pattern for getting higher productivity in soybean + pigeonpea intercropping system. The result indicated that the gross monetary return and net monetary return both were found highest in intercropping system soybean (JS-335) + pigeonpea (BSMR-736). Among the intercropping systems Soybean (JS-335) + Pigeonpea (BSMR-736) was more remunerative in respect of cost: benefit ratio. Planting pattern 4:2 (soybean: pigeonpea) recorded highest values of gross monetary return, net monetary return and cost: benefit ratio. The experiment showed that the soybean (JS-335) + pigeonpea (BSMR-736) intercropping system with 4:2 planting pattern can give higher production.Keywords

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of different tillage and organic amendment treatments on nutrient content and uptake by kharif sorghum on Vertisol. The study revealed that the highest concentration and uptake of N, P and K was obtained with the treatment including tillage with tractor plough (T3) along with press mud compost (A2) and pulverization with rotavation (P2).Keywords

A field experiment was conducted during Kharif at Agronomy Farm, Latur to study the effect of fertilizer level on sweet corn. Application of 100:50:50 kg NPK ha-1 (T3) recorded significantly more length of cob, diameter of cob, number of grains per cob, number of grains plant-1, grain and straw yield than FYM alone and FYM + Azospirillum application. The treatment (T4) application of 100% RDF 120:60:60 kg NPK ha-1 was at par with treatment (T3). The treatment of 100 % RDF through FYM recorded significantly the lowest grain and straw yield.Keywords

The status of soil nutrients and crop productivity of sorghum in sorghum- safflower cropping system under various tillage and organic amendment treatment was studied. In general, yield of sorghum was increased due to tillage with tractor plough, amending the soil with the help of press mud compost followed by pulverization with rotavation. The status of organic carbon and availability of N, P and K was also increased due to tillage with tractor plough, amending the soil with the help of press mud compost followed by pulverization with rotavation.Keywords

The effect of tillage and organics on moisture conservation and physical properties of soil was studied in field. The tillage and organics showed significant improvement on moisture conservation and physical properties of soil. Tillage with tractor plough (T3) along with press mud compost (A2) and pulverization with rotavation (P2) was found superior for conservation of moisture in soil. Similar trend was observed with respect to physical properties soil.Keywords

A field experiment was conducted at Agronomy Farm, College of Agriculture, Latur during kharif 2006 on clay loam soil to find out suitable land configuration for moisture conservation. The results indicated that the land configuration (L4) opening of furrow after every alternate rows and (L2) opening of furrows after two rows were found beneficial in improving growth characters, yield and oil percentage in niger as compared to L1 and L3. Application of 40 kg P2O5 ha-1 was found beneficial in improving growth characters, yield attributes, yield and oil percentage in niger.Keywords

The field experiment was on effect of foliar nutrition on growth and yield of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.). It was conducted during Rabi season in the year 2015-16 at the Research farm of College of Agriculture, Latur. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with three replications and variety “Vijay” as test crop along with eight treatments viz., T1-RDF, T2-RDF+water spray, T3-RDF+19:19:19 @ 1.0% at vegetative stage, T4-RDF+00:52: 34 @ 1.0% at flowering stage, T5-RDF+13:00:45 @ 1.0% at grain filling stage and T6-T3+T4, T7-T4+T5 and T8-T3+T4+T5. The results of the field study indicated that, the growth, yield and quality of chickpea was significantly influenced by foliar nutrition. The growth parameters viz., plant height, number of branches, number of pod plant-1 and dry matter of chickpea were significantly improved due to treatment T8 (RDF+19:19:19 @ 1.0% at vegetative stage, RDF+00:52: 34 @ 1.0% at flowering stage and RDF+13:00:45 @ 1.0% at grain filling stage) however, it was followed treatment T7 (RDF+00:52:34 @ 1.0% at flowering stage and RDF+13:00:45 @ 1.0% at grain filling stage). Yield contributing characters viz., seed yield, straw yield and biological yield were also increased significantly with application of foliar nutrients as per T8 (RDF+19:19:19 @ 1.0% at vegetative stage+RDF+00:52: 34 @ 1.0% at flowering stage+RDF+13:00:45 @ 1.0% at grain filling stage) over rest of the treatments followed by treatment T7.Keywords
